This Cookie Policy explains how Roam ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar local storage technologies when you use the Roam web app at roamapp.ng and the Roam Android application.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Roam also uses localStorage and sessionStorage — browser-native storage mechanisms that work like cookies but are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted in HTTP headers automatically.

What We Store and Why

What We Do Not Use

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
We do not use analytics services (like Google Analytics) that set cross-site tracking cookies.
We do not use fingerprinting or behavioural profiling.

Third-Party Services

Some features integrate third-party services that may set their own cookies or storage:

Paystack — Payment processing. Paystack may use session cookies during the payment flow. See Paystack's Privacy Policy.
Supabase — Database and authentication. Supabase stores auth tokens in localStorage. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.

Managing Your Preferences

Since Roam uses localStorage rather than traditional cookies, your browser's cookie controls may not affect Roam's storage. To clear Roam's local data:

Web: Open your browser settings → Privacy & Security → Clear browsing data → Cached data and storage.
Android app: Go to Android Settings → Apps → Roam → Storage → Clear Data.

Note: clearing app data will sign you out and remove any locally stored preferences (theme, saved spots, etc.).

Essential storage cannot be disabled without affecting core functionality such as staying signed in or processing payments. Functional preferences can be cleared at any time via the steps above.

Children's Privacy

Roam is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us at privacy@roam.app.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to our technology or legal obligations. We'll note the updated date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll notify users via in-app notice.
