Accessibility
Last updated: July 2026 · Roam Technologies Ltd
Roam is committed to making our platform accessible and usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. We actively work to meet and exceed internationally recognised accessibility standards.
Our Commitment
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA across the Roam web app and Android application. These guidelines explain how to make digital content more accessible to people with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.
What We've Built
- Keyboard navigation — All interactive elements are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone.
- Screen reader support — We use semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and landmark roles to support screen readers such as TalkBack (Android) and VoiceOver (iOS).
- Colour contrast — Text and interactive elements meet minimum contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text) across our dark, light, and neon themes.
- Resizable text — The app layout adapts correctly when system font sizes are increased up to 200%.
- Touch targets — All tappable elements are at least 44 × 44 CSS pixels to meet mobile accessibility guidelines.
- Focus indicators — Visible focus rings are shown on all interactive elements when using keyboard or switch access.
- Motion reduction — Animations and transitions are reduced or disabled when the user has enabled "Reduce Motion" in their device settings.
- Error identification — Form errors are described clearly in text so users aren't relying on colour alone to identify issues.
Android App (Capacitor)
The Roam Android app is built with Capacitor and inherits the web accessibility improvements above. Additionally:
- Content is announced correctly by TalkBack with descriptive labels.
- Navigation back buttons and modal close actions are accessible via accessibility services.
- The app respects system-level display size and accessibility settings.
Known Limitations
We're continuously improving. Some areas we're actively working on:
- The AR menu scanning feature has limited screen reader support — we're adding alternative text descriptions.
- Some data visualisations in the admin panel lack text alternatives — in progress.
- Third-party embedded maps may have limited keyboard/screen reader support.

Third-Party Content
Roam integrates third-party services including Paystack (payments) and Google Maps. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of these external services, but we link to their own accessibility statements where available.
